Updating ipod touch to 2 0
The first generation i Pod Touch did not have the i Phone apps or the App Store.
An update was available on i Tunes for the software which originally cost to add the apps to the original i Pod Touch.
When you plug your device in, open i Tunes, and select the backup option, it should backup all the data that is on your device, including any music that is not in your current library.
I have an i Pod touch with i OS 2.2.1 - I would like to upgrade to 4.2. I have tried this on 3 different computers all running i Tunes 11.02....
Once backup is complete, Press Shift key and click on update button on PC and Option Update on Mac 6. Now your i OS device will start downloading i OS 6, make sure you are connected to good network. Once it finishes downloading your will be asked to agree terms and conditions, click agree and let update process begin. Now wait for update process to complete, your i OS device may boot few times.
That updates probably now free, try updating your software with i Tunes.
When you download software, you put it on your computer/device for the first time.
The Chimera jailbreak app also has a built-in function to restore only the jailbreak back to its original state.
Doing this would allow you to remove all jailbreak tweaks/apps while retaining all other data on your device.
I saw somewhere I may have to upgrade in steps - like get to i OS 3.x first.
